What to Know Before You Buy a Kia EV

Over the last several years, it has become clear that the future of the automotive world is electric. What do we mean by that? We mean that more and more auto manufacturers, including Kia, are putting increased effort into developing new electric and hybrid vehicles. A future where the majority of Americans are driving one of those two options isn’t such a crazy thing to think about anymore.

Despite the amazing advancements Kia has made in its electric vehicle capabilities, we understand that not everyone feels ready to make the switch from the purely gasoline-powered vehicle they are used to. In all honesty, we understand this, and the truth is that there are some things you need to know before you buy a Kia EV to make sure you’re ready to take full advantage of everything it has to offer.

Questions to Ask Before Buying Your EV

  1. ev chargerCan you charge at home? If you have an electric car, more than likely, you’ll want to be able to charge it at home rather than always using area charging stations. Keep in mind, however, that your typical electrical socket and extension cords are not safe or effective options for doing this. You’ll want an EV charger, and we can explain more about them when you see us here at Cowboy Kia.
  2. How far will you need to drive? Today’s Kia EV models have impressive range, but if you often drive particularly long distances, you will want to keep in mind that an EV may take longer to charge than they take to fill up on gas. On the plus side, this is much more affordable, and many drivers find that their EV has plenty of range for their daily needs. Even so, it’s one aspect to consider.
  3. Where are your local charging stations? About 10 or so years ago, charging stations were far more sparse than they are today. Thankfully, many more areas now have a number of charging options for EV models. Locate where the charging stations are in your local area. This helps ensure you have options for charging your vehicle outside of your home charging port.
