Your vehicle has two different air filters – one for your engine, one for the cabin. In this event, the cabin air filter is the one that’s important. This is what filters the air in your vehicle’s interior, making sure it is as clean as can be. Having a dirty air filter means more allergens can be cycled through the cabin, which you don’t want.

Clean Carpets

Most likely the dirtiest part of your vehicle, though you might not think about it, the floor of your vehicle is where dust, crumbs, trash and all kinds of other allergen-carrying castaways call home. Cleaning your carpets on a regular basis is important to keep those allergens out of your vehicle, and you won’t be upset at the lack of mess for other reasons too, we’re sure.

No Air Fresheners

Everyone loves for their car to smell nice, and you might think that’s a great step when spring cleaning your vehicle. But if you have allergies, these fragrances can be irritants that affect them just as bad as any other allergen getting in your vehicle. Get rid of them if you already have them, and don’t get them if you were planning on it.

Close Windows

This one might seem obvious, especially if you have a history with allergies, but you should rely on air conditioning to keep your vehicle cool as much as possible. Pollen is outside, and this nasty allergen won’t hesitate to fly right in through your windows. So, just keep them closed and don’t tempt fate.
