One such organization is WardsAuto, which has been around since the 1920s as a source of automotive data and statistics geared towards highlighting the best of the best. These days one of the ways they do that is through a series known as the Wards 10 Best. They have multiple lists in which they highlight, believe it or not, the 10 best vehicles in a given category. One popular list is the Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX, which just recently had its 2023 awards announced. So, did a Kia vehicle make it on the list and win an award? How are the 10 Best Interiors & UX awards decided?

With as much experience as WardsAuto has, they’re well versed at determining the 10 Best at a given thing within the industry. They typically only look at completely new or significantly redesigned vehicles – specifically, redesigned in the aspect for which the list is being calculated. For example, if a vehicle was completely redesigned on the exterior, but the interior wasn’t touched, then they likely wouldn’t look at that vehicle for their 10 Best Interiors list.

So, with their crop of vehicles selected, the editors evaluate the models in question and score each one based on a number of important metrics. Naturally, for the 10 Best Interiors & UX awards, this includes design and aesthetics. Other metrics include how comfortable the cabin is, the kinds of materials utilized, the vehicle’s fit-and-finish, what kind of connectivity and infotainment technology is offered, the various displays found in the cockpit as well as the controls to use them, what kind of advanced driver assist systems are offered and, of course, value.
