Kia EV9: The Mark of the Sustainability Movement
On Nov 11, 2021, the “Kia Sustainability Movement” heralded a green transition to fully electric vehicles. Later announcing they will bring only electric cars to the European market by 2035.
Kia has taken great steps to fulfill that promise. For instance, the auto brand is focusing on designing a monitoring framework for suppliers to minimize carbon emissions during the supply stage. In addition, Kia plans on providing 14 pure-electric models by 2027 to achieve carbon neutrality and increase plastic reuse up to 20% by 2030.

Enter the EV9
Reducing fossil fuels in the manufacturing process and the switch to recycled materials, batteries, and all green alternatives show Kia’s seriousness about the sustainability movement. Now, with the public unveiling of the Concept EV9, we can see that many of those plans have materialized.
After great success with hybrids and EV models like the EV6, Kia seems to be on the right track with the EV9. The Kia Engineering team assessed the potential environmental footprint of the raw materials used in EV6 production. In cooperation with the manufacturing department, efforts are being made to develop new fixing methods to facilitate disassembly and assembly.

Touch of Nature
By taking inspiration from nature, Kia has taken sustainability to another level with the EV9 because design experts have used a wide range of recycled and natural materials to keep the car eco-friendly. For instance, the company has used recycled fishnets as fabric for the floor and recycled water bottles for the seats.
Since Kia wanted to minimize the use of natural leather in all models, vegan leather was used for the EV9’s upholstery, similar to the EV6. The company also manufactured the Concept EV9 on the E-GMP platform to make a high-tech, sleek vehicle that runs on a zero-carbon, electric power source.

Sustainability in Every Point
Because all-electric cars do not require a standard grille, the Concept EV9 has a full-colored front that clearly shows sustainability ideas. The new grille has changed the air vent design to lower frontal weight and significantly enhance aerodynamics.
Kia has designed the panoramic sunroof with nature in mind, a design that brightens the all-natural interior, creating a sense of wellness and tranquility. In addition to the stunning elegant glass structure that connects passengers to the outside world, there are vent ducts that store solar energy to fuel the powertrain while driving.
As a serious contender for the best all-electric SUV, Kia will start selling the EV9 in the US in September 2023. With the significant improvements the EV9 has undergone over previous models, we can only expect the future to be even more impressive for Kia.
Whether it’s electric vehicles, standard petrol cars, or even hybrids, Kia has established itself as a brand that combines luxury, functionality, and affordability.
