2023 Kia Seltos

It’s easy to become preoccupied with other things and forget the importance of safety, but it just takes a moment of distraction to put yourself in danger. Our team at Cowboy Kia has put together a few tips to help you and your loved ones stay safe while driving. As part of our commitment to safety, we also want to ensure that you are equipped with the latest technology, Head-Up Display.

Block Phone Notifications

Unsurprisingly, using our phones is the most common form of distracted driving. Thankfully, today’s smartphones can help with that. There are many text-blocking apps and “do not disturb” settings to automatically block notifications while you drive. Taking advantage of these features allows you to concentrate on driving instead of worrying about your phone.

Use a Head-Up Display

An easy way to lose focus while driving is by searching your vehicle’s dashboard to check your speed and fuel levels. A Head-Up Display is an impressive safety feature that projects essential information about your car onto the windshield so that you can keep your eyes straight ahead.

The Kia Seltos Head-Up Display projects a semi-transparent 9-inch screen with helpful data such as drive of speed, road signs, navigation alerts, remaining mileage, and cruise control speed, and low fuel lights. To turn on the Kia HUD, simply press the switch located on the left side of your crash pad to display the hidden display. Press that same button to hide the screen.

The Head-Up Display keeps your “head up” so you can gain information about your car while keeping your line of sight on the road. This feature is just one way Kia is dedicated to your safety. The all-new Seltos comes with a steering wheel auto remote control, another safety feature that enables you to adjust your radio without taking your hands off the wheel.

Ask Your Passenger to Navigate

While you can customize Seltos Head-Up Display to show turn-by-turn navigation, you can also ask a friend to give you directions. Instead of checking your phone for directions, enable voice navigation on your GPS and turn the volume up. Or better yet, pass your device off to the passenger to monitor.

Build a Car Playlist

If you enjoy jamming out during your commute, build out a playlist before hitting the road. This removes any temptation to select the perfect song while driving. Radio presets are another easy way to prevent music distractions.

Eat Before You Leave

It’s tempting to eat your drive-thru burger on the way back to the office. But between digging through the take-out bag and juggling the ketchup and fries, it’s easy to take our attention off the road. Instead of scarfing down lunch while driving, try eating before you leave or while parked. This will guarantee both hands are on the wheel while driving.
